British Council – Power of English

A video with the power to ignite online debate for the British Council.

British Council CEO Martin Davidson led a discussion on English in Development with a range of Government Representatives, multilateral agencies and policy makers. The video, which documented this discussion, was designed to spark an online debate.

Video:
Client:
British Council
Format:
Events
Running time:
4 mins 15
Year:
2009
Objective:
The brief for this project was ambitious: Screencult was selected to deliver an edited video within a few hours of the filming a round-table event of international dignitaries. Additionally, we were to work with the British Council's CEO to help shape his introduction and 'call to action'. The video had to be posted on the British council site the next day to promote and initiate a social media debate.
Approach:
Having gathered as many interesting points from all the speakers at the event, Screencult then had to log, edit and deliver the project by the next morning, so it could be available on the British Council website the very next day to kick off the debate.
Result:
The video did indeed initiate debate on Facebook / Twitter and was even featured on the British Council's global website homepage for two consecutive days.
Testimonial:
"Thank you and the team so much – it looks great! We very much enjoyed working with Screencult on this. The finished product is excellent and delivers all the messages we wanted it to. We also really appreciate the way Screencult worked with us – from all the hard work they put in to get a super quick turnaround, to the way they listened to what we wanted and worked collaboratively with us to build the story (and we appreciate how demanding that was at times!). Screencult did a brilliant job and I would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending Screencult to colleagues here and outside the organisation."
